Nursing is much more to me
The prayer of a Nurse for her patient that they be touched by God.
My job is more than passing pills.
making money or paying bills.
More rewarding than one could ever know,
for I'm allowed were few others go.
I take my role quite seriously,
I know the trust you have given me.
I pray for you, while I pray you see,
and ask God's presence to shine through me.
I sometimes enter your life with grace,
at other times with unexpected haste.
To intervene at your time of need
with bits of comfort, your soul to feed.
Your sickness I treat with pills and IVs,
in hopes that I shorten the length of disease.
My touch is gentle, His love to convey,
and whisper "God bless you" as I pass your way.
The impact I have on your life,
may be small,
but I forfeit the chance,
if I say nothing at all.
When you and I meet
it is when you re in need.
An opportune time
to plant God's Holy seed.
When my shift is over
and my charting is done,
I hope with God's love,
I've touched at least one.
I do all the things
that all nurses do,
and pray while I do it
that God touches you.
